Will You?

My friend Joe proposed to his wife on the catwalk of this building. It was his anniversary just a little while ago and he commissioned me to make a papercut of it. It took me forever because I was moving and I finally finished it this week. Do any of you know which building this is?

Hi Cindy, Well of course from my side of the world I don't recognize the building. You've created a lovely papercut. I'd love to try buildings some time too. Great result; I'm sure Joe and his wife loved it too.

It's a beautiful building but I don't have a clue what building it is. Very nice cutwork.

I'm pretty sure I know which one it is. The little flag on the roof on the left is where I proposed thanks to a friendly security guard letting us out there. Michelle loved it.

I'm guessing the City/County Building. Have you ever considered doing a cut of the intricate details in the archways? Did you know they almost tore it down in the 60's? I for one really appreciate that they didn't demolish that fine piece of craftsmanship.

BTW...did you receive my e-mail about a commission of the silhouette of my baby boy? The afternoon I sent it I had a moment consisting of a brain lapse, a spam purge and a forehead slap. I'm not even sure it went to the right place. You can reach me at RLynnDavisatgmaildotcom.

That is a lovely rendering of the City & County Building. Too bad it's not quite symmetrical -- could have saved you a lot of time! I bet no one but the original glazier was more exhausted than you by the absurd number of windows in that thing.

Stop me if I've told you this one: someone asked Frank Lloyd Wright to design a building for downtown SLC. He toured the city and declared that he would not permit one of his buildings to stand there until every public and commercial building was razed except for the Temple, Tabernacle, and City County Building. (Of course, it takes a bit of the sting away when you consider that he called the Tabernacle one of the architectural masterpieces of the US and perhaps the world.)

BTW, have you ever seen the animated movie Adventures of Prince Achmed? Let me know -- I have it right now from Netflix. If you've not seen it, you must. It's right up your papercutting alley.
