Woman at the Well

I've been sitting on this one for a while. It's been in my sketchbook and I finally got around to cutting it. This papercut is of the account of the woman at the well found in John 4:7-30. The Savior asks her to draw some water for Him from the well. She asks Him how He could request this of her since she is a Samaritan and the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. He replies that if she knew who was before her, she would ask water of Him. She doesn't get it and He expounds some more. Still she doesn't get it and He tells her to go fetch her husband. She tells Him she doesn't have one and He replies, "No kidding, you have five." Finally she gets it and understands who sits before her. Sometimes I feel like that is what happens in my life. There are so many examples of God's abundance all around and I trudge through thinking about me and how sucky my life is and in reality, all I need to do is trust in the Lord and do as He says and everything will turn out all right. Maybe not in this life, and I really hate that answer, but in the life to come. As for me and my house, I'm pretty happy and grateful for all that I have received so far, I really can't complain.

I really enjoy looking at your work, it's very beautiful. You're so skilled! It's good to have faith and be grateful, but don't forget to give yourself some credit too; I'm sure you work very hard at what you do :)

Cindy, I love your accounts of the Bible. The visual aspect makes my heart soar that God works and moves, and loves us SO much. Thank you so much for these cuts. This one is remarkable just like the rest. wish i lived near you so we could be friends and i could plop down the money for some prints at your kitchen table and wisk them away to my house to stare at them some more. sigh... Have you ever thought about putting your biblical ones into a book along with the scripture and maybe a daily devotional to go with them? Sorry, you are probably so busy as it is, but could not help mentioning it. have a great day. and thanks again.

Beautiful piece and beautiful post. I'm dying to sit down and try cutting myself one of these days. Thanks for the inspiration!

The cut is beautiful, as usual. :)

I think this was the passage that inspired the "fado" "Samaritana", which you can see (and hear) here:

It´s a very beautiful song that has been interpreted by so many fado singers and I just love it. Hope you like it too!

Any chance of this one showing up in your shop? I bought one of "The Women with an Issue of Blood" and would love to have this to hang beside it. There are so few examples of women of faith in the scriptures and I want my daughters to feel that they too can be women of faith by having examples around.
