Idaho State Bird and Flower

I finished this last Sunday for Mother's day for my mom. She wanted another bird to fill in her three frames that she had. She got the original California Quail and I made two of these Mountain Bluebirds. The Mountain Bluebird, Sialia currucoides is the state bird of Idaho. I put him with the state flower of Idaho, the Syringa, Philadelphus lewisii. I think I'll try to do the rest of the 50 states, although there are some repeats, but the flowers are different!

Purchase a print of the Mountain Bluebird and Syringa at etsy!

Arlene, thanks!

perilloparodies, thanks! I did buy the knife. I'm so used to using the one I like to use that I can't work with the fancy one. Oh well. It's in Michael's stores.

I just can't seem to cut my letters as neatly as you do. Mine always have fuzzy little papers hanging off and jerky curves. Argh. Guess I need to practice a ton more.

I'm sure your Mom will love that one. jan

yeah, Cindy, what is your secret... you said lots of practice, but i really do think you have an extra measure of talent in that arena... even with any help you might get from the computer... you still have to cut it... good gracious, one of these days, ten more years from now probably, I will have either neat cutting writing or i will have figured that it is hopeless and just write in what i want to say... either way, it is so fun!!! Thanks for inspiring to begin... really have been enjoying it...

Hi, Just found you through snippety gibbet. Love your stuff! It's stunning and I love the squirrel house. Do you post to Australia? I've admired papercutting for so long and have just started getting into them. Happy Joy!

Snippety and Peri., well, it wasn't until two years into it that I was able to do letters like that...keep on trying!

Diana, thanks! I do post to Australia! Good luck with your cutting!

Heather, thanks!
