Template Tuesday - Rumpelstiltskin
So one of my more favorite fairy tales as a child was the story of Rumpelstiltskin. The fact that she could spin straw into gold AND got to marry the king was so wonderful to me. Now I have a different view of the story and wonder these things:
What kind of father tells a king that his daughter can spin straw into gold?
What kind of king believes that someone can spin straw into gold?
What kind of little craggy guy gives up his secrets just so he can have a baby?
Was the baby really the king's? Is that why Rumpelstiltskin wanted it so much? Was he teaching her more than how to spin straw?
These things I wonder and more. I also just enjoy the story.
This is what the template will look like. I tried to do a bit of a cooler one since I've kind of been neglecting Template Tuesday. I don't think there's really anything fancy to this in the creation.

Cindy,
ReplyDeleteI really LOVE your art! You've inspired me to give paper cutting a try. I've watched your "How To" video (which was hilarious) and I was hoping you could give me some insight as to how you cut your very detailed lettering. I would love to do a cut on a Shakespeare scene and would like to incorporate lines, but I cannot figure out how to cut out the letters without ripping the paper!
Thanks!
Beth

Oh wow, I came here through Craft Crave and I love what I see! Thanks so much for this nice pattern, I've always loved to do silhouettes!!
ReplyDeleteTake care, ~Ira
Cindy, this is wonderful! I love how you have included the tower in the design. Do you think that if the king really thought that she could spin straw into gold he would have stopped his requests for gold after only 3 nights?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing your beautiful designs. I like to cut, but I am not good at design, so your generosity delights me!

I adore your work! You have such a wonderful eye for design. Your paper choices are always lovely, as well.
ReplyDeleteYou do such wonderful work, Cindy! I haven't commented before (I lurk!), but I had to think of you when I saw this video:
